Members at today’s SPIR Executive Board meeting reached decisions on the future direction of the NetMonitor website audience measurement project. On the basis of the current situation and the actual status of further phases of measurement, members of the Board decided to continue with the current service provider – Gemius – for another three years.
The original winner of the tender for the fourth phase of the NetMonitor project was the company comScore, with which SPIR had been preparing the measurement since June of this year. The regular measurement of website traffic and streamed content and the measurement of mobile traffic were to be launched on 1 January 2012. “Unfortunately, following an in-depth look into comScore’s methods and technology we discovered that some of our requirements could not be satisfied during the relevant period,” said Kateřina Hrubešová, Executive Director of SPIR, adding that “while comScore has numerous interesting and progressive services in its portfolio, we would not be able to use the company to provide some of the existing services our customers are used to. For this reason we have decided to remain with the current provider, Gemius, for the next phase of the NetMonitor project.”Although cooperation between SPIR and comScore has ended for this phase of measurement, SPIR is confident that comScore will choose to participate in future tenders in the years to come.
