Press Release, PRAGUE, 10 June 2010 – SPIR has Changed: Grand Relaunch June’s general meeting of the Internet Advertising Association (SPIR) brought about a major change to the internal regulations, which should reflect current development of the internet advertising and content market. The changes concern conditions of membership and the structure, as well as greater openness and responsiveness of SPIR. Last but not least, the general meeting set the regulations for the level individual members will have in deciding about the future of SPIR.It is not just new technologies extending the reach of the internet and changing its coverage. “In recent years, the internet environment has changed significantly and it was necessary to react to these changes. We are trying to open SPIR to new types of subjects appearing on the market. It was also necessary to increase the flexibility of decision-making, for example with increasingly greater collaboration with the authorities. So I am glad that the proposed solution met with an absolute majority acceptance from the membership base,” commented Ján Simkanič, existing chairman of the SPIR Executive Board, on the changes adopted. Members of the Association have dissolved SPIR sections (advertisers and media) because they no longer meet the requirements of current membership applicants, who are no longer just from those groups by far. “So that we meet the requests of new members who want to participate in management of SPIR, we have extended the number of members of the Executive Board to 15 and newly set up an institute of the presidium,” explains Kateřina Hrubešová, Executive Director of SPIR, about the changes. A presidium made up of two vice chairs and a chair will have an organizational and representative role, and together with the director will ensure the operational running of the Association. The Control Committee has been newly added as well, its task to examine the cash flow of the Association.
